Fuel return question with jumpered pump
I am still hunting my erratic idle and I was pulling the auxiliary air regulator (AAR) to make 100% sure it worked when I came across something odd.
One of the WSM procedures is to jumper the fuel pump and check the voltage on the AAR connection. As I was doing this, I could hear the fuel going through the rails. I had just replaced the rubber fuel lines on the end of the rails so I checked them for leaks (none). As I did this I noticed that all the sound and the flow was only going through the drivers side line. I could feel the fuel transit the line on the drivers side hose, but not the passengers side. Is this normal? Do I have a messed up fuel distributor?
BTW, there is an easy diagnostic in addition to the WSM for the AAR. Pull it and stick it in the freezer to get it cold. Look through the hole and it will be mostly open (about 1cm). Hook a 12v supply to the leads and you can watch it over a couple of minutes as the bimetallic strip heats up.
More on the idle diagnostics once the timing light shows up!
