All the seats I've seen that were done in vinyl look worse than a torn leather Porsche seat. They have wrinkles in places, very obvious ones. I can not speak to whether this was installers error or because of the manufacturer not getting the cut correct. All I know is that every Rennbay covered seat I've seen has them and every pro done lether seat I've seen doesn't.

No, I'm told. That it doesn't matter the style or color. Just as long as we have 10 buyers. If we can get more we may be able increase the discount. I'll call them next week when I have a more accurate count. What I intend on doing is basically get her to set up a file with FeedNfrenZ on it and when you call in to order she can place it under this file. Once she has 10 orders we'll get the discount. I'll get her to hold the order a few days until everyone interested chimes in and then if we can get a better price she'll let me know. So............ start working on what color and style you need and I'll start another thread next week when I have set it all up. I need to run all of this by World Upholstery obviously. Feel free to call them they are very good people. Feel free to make suggestions........... I'm new at this!

I had some vinyl re-covered seats in my 928 previously, and they looked good, and had no wrinkles...

But my current leather ones are a bit "weathered" and wrinkled...

Hi BC well my point with the seats still stands, be exceptionally careful who does the stiching. The bolsters on the seats you displayed are one of the faults that I had when the first trimmer did mine. They haven't retained the square look from the factory. I had them redone again by the firm that does all the dealer work and this time they were right.

It was interesting to read that with other covers by retrimming firms there has also been problems. When your dollar was strong you would have done better just to buy it from my trimmer here. Would have only been about $1500.

If they need 10 people at $800 a piece thats 8K of business. Then 1st I'd like to see detailed pics of what the finished product will look like. What is posted on their website (I'll bet $5 bucks) was 'lifted' from a orginal 928 that copy/pasted somewhere on the internet.

Now my seats aren't that bad and could be fixed and died but will need new stuff down the road. Most sharks I see from 85 up have pretty new looking seats. Do that many people here really have seats in poor shape?

I think the most common thing wrong is the padding on the seat area is theflatten and takes the shape or new look away. This could be fixed up with new padding and a few stitches here and there.

Does anyone live close to the shop to inspect their work?

I agree we need to get some feed back on their product. I'm also talking with http://www.928gt.com/interior.htm#seat ...............cost a little more but they may be able to get us a group rate and if it's a better product it would be worth the extra money to me. Has anyone delt with either company for seats?

I just prefer all the stuff in my car to look like new...

My seats work fine, and are VERY comfortable.

It's just an aesthetic thing.

A little better page there I haven't seen. I'm sure the end result is good if the person putting on the 'kit' knows what the hell to do. But even if you don't exactlly need one right at this moment. A really good leather seat cover is good to have for resale or anytime down the road. A nice seat and floormats really liven up any Porsche.

I've seen countless $50K porsches for sale with dream car bodys and low miles but only to have less than perfect seats or crappy carpet.
I agree that new looking seats spruce up any car.

Hi All,
I did a little comparison shopping and came across a vendor by the name of Basic, Inc. in West Caldwell, NJ (http://www.4basic.com/), who advertise in Hemmings Motor News. They specialize in M-B, BMW, and Porsche interiors. Below is an excerpt from an email reply I received from one of their representatives.

"...leather replacement front seat covers for the 928S4 would be $900 per pair for regular seats or $950 per pair for sport seats. We manufacture them in all factory colors. They will take us 1-2 weeks to make before shipping. Thank you for your e-mail.

Sincerely,
Michael Trueba Jr.
Basic, Inc. "
(end quote)

I have located an upholstery shop in Gainesville, FL owned by an older German woman who is said to do superb "factory quality" work. While she is not quick on the turn-around time, she is reasonably priced, and the quality is what we would demand. My currrent thought is that since the remainder of my car's interior is in great shape, I only need to have my driver's seat repaired (bolster + some restitching) which will be much less than $800, in all likelihood. No need for me to redo both front seats...yet.
I'll let you all know what I find out.

Meanwhile, good luck on the World Upholstery group purchase...I've heard good feedback about that company. Nice work Brent L....

Thanks TUK. My drivers seat is also the worst like I'm sure everyone elses is too. Which brings up a question. Why do these seat covers always come in pairs? I realize that.......... yeah if you do one and not the other they probably won't match perfectly but........ give me the option to do one and live with it or do the other later if the seats missmatch that bad!
Still looking for feedback from anyone who's puchased after market leather seat covers?

I think most problems with seats isn't the leather its the padding the *** sits on and flattens and needs to be repaired.

But I'm all for finding a good company to find that is trustable to refinish our shark seats back to new.

I just got off the phone with Jamie at World upholstery. I was looking for referances and work examples. She tells me that they've been in business for 27 years and that their seat covers are direct replacement made to fit the vehicle's manufacturers specs. i.e. 1974-1976 uses embosed leather some use perferated leather, leather vinyl combo......... she sounded very up on the subject! They don't do installs however they have shops listed on their web sight that do. She gave me a few names. Upholstery Shop in San
