928 reference in 007 issue of 000
Deep into an article about Alan Johnson, who had just gotten a Porsche dealership in San Diego and an invitation to Germany:
Johnson describes the 928 debut as "spectacular." Despite having exclusively owned and raced rear- and mid-engined Porsches with air-cooled engines, he was blown away by the sight of the new front-engined, water-cooled GT car. "My initial impression was tremendously positive," he says. "The car was just beautiful."
Johnson goes on to describe a later banquet where he sat next to Ernst Fuhrmann, who asked about his thoughts on the 911. He gave the "wrong" answer, that the 911 would live on. Laughter ensued over his foolishness.
(Thank you, Mr. Stout.)
