New 93 GTS Owner

Congratulations on obtaining your GTS! Beautiful car!
In looking at this thread, I did not see any recommendation regarding replacing the fuel lines. They become hard and brittle at this stage in the life of the vehicle and should be replaced.
Rumor has it that they are not available from Porsche right now, but Greg Brown at Precision Motorwerks makes highly regarded replacements.
Please post some photos of your interior and engine compartment, then we can give you more advice on what other items you may want to address.
Enjoy the car!

Here are some pics of the motor...interior in prefect condition with exception, cassette stuck in tape player and won't come out...need to figure this out
Topped off power steering fluid with Dexron VI...spilled a little and smelled a 'popcorn like' burning smell I hadn't smelled before...hopefully it will go away

Next is the X-Pipe so we'll see. If still too quiet I'll try GT resonators next.
But I'm the opposite extreme since I have two cars (one of them a 928) with open headers straight out the back and another 928 with nothing more than a small Borla muffler. None of those cars are too loud in my book
Long term play is 4" single exhaust with headers, it's going to be another season or two before I get around to that project.

Lots of 'crackling noise' coming out of rear 6" speakers. Pulled covers with paint can opener (from other suggestion in forum...thanx much), and removed foam that had deteriorated around edge. Wanted to confirm that in order to actually remove speaker from the car, you need to not only disconnect the plug (which I did) as well as needing to unscrew the two screws holding the brown circuit boards attached to the speaker and the brown yellow and green wires since there is no plug for those wires.

There is indeed a plug for the 6.5" woofers- no need to unscrew the crossover circuit boards from the speaker frame. Here's a picture of the right rear quarter panel to get you oriented:
The back of the speaker has 2 plugs, a male 4 pin 'input' from the body harness, and a female 4-pin 'output' from the crossover to the rear tweeter and mid.
Speaker connections:
Here's the 'input' from the body harness:
In the pic below you can see the molding in the foam where the 'ouput' connector to the rear tweeter/mid speakers goes:

Happy New Year!
Have now had GTS for a couple of months. After checking all the fluids and ‘safety of flight’ considerations, took the easy path first and just finished up install of modern digital single DIN radio with pop out 7” touch screen yesterday. This gave car AM/FM radio, CD, Sirius, USB, android auto, phone and text, GPS, and back up camera capability. In doing so, while keeping original wiring harness in place, made a dent in learning about how 928 electrics work
Next step will be a solid post purchase inspection. Have been in contact with recommended 928 maintenance gent in DFW area, and will get this done as soon as he can squeeze me in.
In the interim, have noticed car generally only starts (otherwise just cranks and cranks) if throttle is in the half open position. Appears to be the case hot or cold with it taking a little longer when hot. On cold start, car runs rough idle wise for a minute or so (ie, if throttle not applied in early stages rpm goes to zero and dies). After the minute or so, everything appears normal. Any thoughts?
Have been through forum looking at numerous top end refresh descriptions. Is there a particular best description on the forum that can lead a new owner down the primrose path step by step explaining a top end refresh? Thanx
Mark

Dwayne's S4 intake writeup is the gold standard for clarity and thoroughness as far as I'm concerned:

I believe it was suggested prior to #33, but going by that list, you have not done the fuel lines. You are playing with fire. Also, I'm guessing your ignition wires are near or past their usefulness. Old wires could be responsible for your idle and starting issues.

Bring the GTS to the meeting on Saturday - nice 12 mile drive. Meet the local 928 crowd and show off your ride.
