A real carbon fiber dash I would go for. I can't wait to see the final.

Hack, once he finishes the mold (pic above), I'm sure he could make one out of CF if he wanted to.

The mold doesn't know the differance

I wonder how many dashes he intends to get out of one mold?

Default carbon fiber dash

Since my "new" dash is crap X 10, I would like to be on the list for a carbon fiber dash as well. Maybe this guy would like to do a run of them.

The cool thing is that you could sculpt some SC guage inserts, or a cupholder mounting location, etc, and then make a mold, so you could make multiple copies of a custom dash...

bcdavis:
Yes, and how about a disguised radar detector housing? There is a thread currently on the 993 board about that issue.

The cool thing, is that once you pop out one fiberglass dash, you can take it, and use bondo, or modeling clay, and add on sunglass holders, radar detector housings, guage pods, or whatever you want... Once you modify it, just make *another* mold of the modified dash, and make as many copies of the custom dash as people want... You could also build one totally smooth wrap-around dash, that has mounting points for all the pod instrumentation.

For those people who mentioned the safety issue, once you have a mold, you could use other materials other than solid fiberglass. It could be a thin layer of fiberglass, with leather over it, and the interior could be made mostly of foam, or urethane, etc... Soft stuff! Or you could do a layer of soft foam over the fiberglass, before wrapping it in leather, for a padded and soft outer surface...

But generally, if you have your seatbelt on, you shouldn't be smashing into the dashboard.
But if you are hyper-safety minded, then pad it with a lot of foam before covering it in leather...

Guys,
Just let me remind you i am getting a carbon fiber dash done and the guy doing has spoke of a group buy as i mentioned earlier. The dash thats getting done has no glove box though, i sealed it off since i had no use for one and the dash was going for a $1000. The pod im also getting done and that will cost $400. Do not let the pic i posted fool you being it is only the mold.
