I was checking out some parts on the PET and I noticed that there is a general change of front fender part number on all S4 variants from MY90 on, the same part is also then carried over onto the GTS. This part change was also introduced early on the 88 'club sport' and the 89 'GT' which kind of indicates it's a performance oriented change. Anyone know what the difference is?
928 503 011 08 changes to 928 503 011 10
928 503 012 08 changes to 928 503 012 10
I expect it's a widening of the wheel arch flare to give a bit more tyre clearance (which is nice!), but that's a guess.
I was origionally looking to see if I could find part numbers for the wider steel fenders that Nicole mentioned in a previous post ( link )
Didn't find them though...

To answer your question about wider front tires. Porsche Exclusive made wider front fenders that would acommodate 8" front rims for the later GTS models. To the best of my knowlege they were made of galvanized steel, not aluminum. I belive it was a $1k option, and they look so close to stock that you can hardly tell you've got them on.

Actually this change is mirrorred with a similar update to the rear fenders on MY90+, which again was introduced early on the 88 'club sport' and the 89 'GT'. In this case the change is more visible - there is a definite flare to the rear arches on these later cars that is absent on earlier S4's. I had noticed this before but had put it down to individual owners 'rolling' their fender lips, but it seems they came that way as a steel pressing from porsche.
