Default Front Bumper Styles - how many?

Were there 2 or 3 front bumper styles?

OB & S4 (and later?) only
OR - OB, S with air dam/spoiler, S4 (and later)?

Were the S cars using the same bumper cover as the OB cars, only with the spoiler attached, or were there different molds/parts/numbers?

On my '86 version of PET I see only one number, 928 505 123 05.
That page (802-05) has a couple parts that seem to be 1984 only, but not for the bumper cover -only one number listed for that.

Of course, S4 and later numbers would not be on my PET bc it only goes up to 1984.

Reason:
My '86 came to me without the airdam/spoiler, and there are no obvious mounting holes near the front fenders. They could, of course, been filled in, but I figure the front bumper could also be an earlier style without mounting holes - if such a thing ever existed. My reading of the microfiche says that there was No other version.

Short answer is 2. Long answer is that in '78 the front bumper cover was 928 505 013 02, then quickly became 928 505 013 03, then 928 505 013 06 starting in '79, continuing all the way through 1986.

For the S-cars with the air ducts, they must have cut the covers before paint, as there's no separate part number for those covers.

There's only 1 front cover part number for S4. 928 505 113 20.

What madness - that document you posted suggests that Every car had the openings hand cut... I can't imagine Porsche did not have a new molding made for the bumper with cutouts - or perhaps that was 928 505 013 06

My '86 has no cutouts, so I assume that someone put a new front bumper on at some point. Odd.

Like you say^^perhaps your FBC has been replaced with an earlier car's FBC (non S...no cutouts), then painted to match. Look behind your FBC for the black plastic ducts just ahead of your front wheels then traveling toward the aluminum deflectors that feed air to your rotors. If the ducts are still there I'd guess they would be flapping around as a result of the missing front attachment points/FBC inlets ? T

The aluminum deflectors are in place. The ducts are in a box of parts that came with the car... I knew they were off at purchase, and haven't gotten around to installation. It just took me awhile to realize that the cutouts were missing, and to look up the part number, and realize that there was only one part number (or so I thought).

I'm surprised that Porsche never made an "early" bumper cover with the duct cutouts molded into them - that each one was hand cut seems crazy. Or maybe I'm still confused by the part numbers.
