Default Factory hose clamps: good or bad?

Nearly all of my engine bay hose clamps are original, and while I like that fact, and the look, wondering
about their function.

it looks like they are sized specifically for each hose diameter size? when tightening, are the clamps designed to be screwed all
the way down? I would like to know if these clamps can be overtighten.

OR, are more modern style clamps a better, more effective and reliable, way to go?

My 2 cents.. keep it original. There are some really well made new clamps out there, typically german made, that may arguably be "better" for clamping. But you have a GT and originality is important for future value. If the correct clamps are not already NLA they will be eventually. Once they're missing it can be hell to source the correct ones again. I have hundreds of original clamps off of the many early cars I've parted out and yes there are MANY sizes on each car.

I'm putting mine back together after an intake refresh, WP etc.
Certain items do not need to be original such as belts, clamps, hoses, wiper blades or tires if the car will be driven if even only on weekend or dry days.
Some of my clamps twisted (from metal fatigue) while being removed so I couldn't risk re-installing them.
As suggested, stick with the German ones from the dealer. That's what I did.
If a garage queen, then yes. My $0.02

Yes... some are NLA already, like the large coolant hose clamps. I ordered some from Roger and Porsche sent worm drive clamps, so I had mine re-plated.

Same with fasteners. Belmetric has an excellent selection, but some (particularly some of the allen head bolts) are weird (i.e. texture and/or head height) and are hard to find or not available.

Keep them if they work. And yes, there are absurd number of different sizes. It's part of why the Germans lost WWII.

When cleaned and oiled, the originals work great. I had mine replated and I think they look incredible and really set the engine apart.

There are many sizes and luckily they are easily marked on the side. Took me three cars worth of parting to get one full set and I still have a rough radiator hose clamp. I believe the upper and lower radiator hoses use four different sizes alone.

What was confusing to me is that Porsche still threw in a couple of worm drive clamps on the early cars. I guess they just want to keep you on your toes

I recently ordered a new radiator hose clamp from Roger. It appears to be identical to the factory clamp, including the Cad plating. It's definitely plated, but it might be gold zinc. Looks great. I was surprised when I pulled it out of the package because Roger said the Cad plated are no longer available. I ordered a second clamp and it is identical. Waiting for timing belt belt job to put it on.

Default Clamps - one old, one new

Old

New - cost was $6 or $8. Seemed like a deal and less hassle than plating.

You want 56's at both radiator outlets, a 61 or 62 on the water crossover, and a 59 on the thermostat housing.

These are the Porsche clamps and noted is the current finish as supplied. The first is a worm drive for the price of the original - well done Porsche.

Be Aware that... The non-Porsche replacement hoses have thinner walls and take slightly smaller clamps. Adjust your ordering with that in mind. At some point soon I'll put the thicker Porsche hoses back on so I can reuse the original clamps.

Default Clamp ontop of a clamp?

Anyone know where I could get a replacement of this clamp on a clamp?
those two clamps come attached to each other.
i've tried the usual 928 parts suppliers and couldn't find it.

AFAIK that doesn't exist in the 928 section of PET, never seen a number for it.
