Default Ignition Cylinder/ Key Start- 86.5 s

PO removed the ignition/key/ starter cylinder and replaced with two switches and a push button start. Sounds cool but not good for security and kind of messy on the rewiring. I want to go back to a key and ignition cylinder /key start. Do I need to use a POrsche system or can I replace with a VW or other manufacturer as long as it fits in the old location? I don't want to shell out big dollars if a newer cheaper unit from a Passat or similar will work. Any suggestions or comment welcome.

Is the locking steering column mechanism still in place?
If not you should replace all that w/ used parts, the Key mec can be replaced its held in via a pin that gets drilled out to remove, when you get a new/used one they are easy to re-key.
The electrical part screws to the back of the Key mec w/ two Phillips head screws.

Post up some pic's of what is left and what was done, 928international should have what you need to restore it back to stock.
