Default 2 inch spacer too much?

I recently came across a set of 2" spacers, and was wondering if they would be too wide to use on the rear of my 79. Stock 16x7 phone dials, 225/50's. I tried to measure the rear of my car but could'nt come up with a solid answer.
Any comments? (pics of same if ya got em!)
Thanks
Brian

I have 21mm spacers on my original 7x16 wheels. They fit nice and tight. I am not sure if you can get away with another 4-5mm or not, that is if our cars are dimensionally comparable. Some slight bending of the wheel arch might do the trick though!

I have seen some 928S without spacers and they look stupid in my opinion. I guess all had them when new?

1" spacers on the rear should be enough.... 2" may cause problems.
It should be easy to swap the 2" with some 911 guys for 21mm or 25mm

I would suspect 2" spacers would be too much. Of course it depends on the wheel offset and tire size you use.

I have about 1 3/4" of spacers on the back of my '80 S, but it is a bit different from stock.

Your 7X16's probably have an offset (ET) of 65mm. A 50mm (2") spacer will never fit a stock car - 25mm is more likely. Get an ~ 26" piece of wood at whatever width, say 1", and lay it across the face or the rear tire as installed: you'll quickly determine potential rub spots, etc.
