Default Got myself a 928

Finally took the plunge now im worried. Its a 1983 s auto euro model . Im worried because it appears to have the CIS injection set up . Searching around it appears that the CIS was only on the earlier cars ? Can anyone confirm my thoughts please.

Euros had CIS (K Jetronic) up through 1983 MY, 84-86 Euros had LH Jetronic. 78-79 US had CIS, 80-84 US had L Jetronic.

Hey that gets us going! Congrat's on the pickup. Looks to be in nice shape. Just a quick word of advice. Not sure how long it has been where it is/parked. It might be good to know the timing belt history before you try to start/run it to move it. That motor is an interference design, so if that initial start were on an old belt and it snapped that would be bad.

Just be slow and methodical - mine didn't run when I picked it up and I could not WAIT to hear that motor come to life - it was soooooooo tempting.

Good luck - you are in the right place here for help getting her all sorted out! Can't wait to follow your progress.

Timing belt on order , it was changed a few thousand miles ago but a long time ago 2009 i think. It starts then stops the previous owner changed out the fuel pump but left the old filter in so thats my first point of call. Checking grounds as well cos the gauges are inaccurate ( oil gauge reads on 2 and voltage shows 8v when ignition switched on ) Cheers for the word of warning duly noted.

Bods,
Congratulations on your acquisition.

Do yourself a favor and read the New Visitor thread at the top of this forum. It is full of tips and knowledge and can save you from making costly mistakes in your reanimation efforts.

Congrats on the new acquisition! I agree with John, if you haven't yet, take a couple of hours or so and go through every post in the New Visitor thread and the links within them. Invaluable stuff in there.

Good to see you diving into the mechanicals before driving it a bunch. While you are at it be sure to replace all flammable fluid rubber lines, i.e. injector lines, fuel lines, PS lines, etc. Too many unfortunate fires have happened because of leaks in old dry rubber.
