Default As luck would have it.

A few weeks before I bought my GT, another one sold for a slightly higher price. I whined about it and got sore because it had no side bumpers, and 40,000 miles on it, and was in perfect condition.
Well, as luck would have it I got an email from the dealer who sold it to them. Evidently it blew a head gasket shortly after the happy owner bought it.
Life works in mysterious ways.

It's a bit premature, but as a side note, that GT might be for sale. I'm working on it. More, later.

I still feel I cannot make up for the negative statements I originally made about this car. Well, in a word, it's relatively WICKED. Or fun, even.

Yeah, SHAME ON YOU, now as punishment, go have some fun driving your GT.

PS, poor maintenance is a possible cause of a blown head gasket..........maybe it was not worth owning in the first place........ Poor, car, I hope it gets a good home.......

"Wicked" was the word that came to mind when I was trying to describe my '89 blk/blk GT.

Gregg,
Good luck for you, bad luck for the other new owner.

I'm glad you are enjoying your GT! It is SO cool when you find the sweet spot.
Much much sweeter than finding the wet spot. ...referring to the blown head gasket of course.

Quite.

And it's great when second time around is even more fun.

Yes, wicked. I think it's a word Buddha used a lot.

Why would the dealer email you this, is he happy he sold a car with a bad head gasket?

Well, now that you mention it, that is why it's out. But I'm going over everything and restoring all the wiring at the same time.

I'm puting in another better dash until I get a pristine one.

Anyone need a core?

Gregg,

I would be interested in that GT if they want to sell it with no motor.

The reason the dealer emailed me was that I emailed him asking him to contact me if the owner ever decided to sell the car.

I'll post back, if anything happens.

I'm pretty certain, after sitting on it, that replacing a head gasket is not too difficult on this car. No difficult front cover and timing chains. But, but, but...

the concern would be if anything else was damaged.
tilo blew a head gasket in the past and the block was toast as well.

Tom, can you elaborate? I am aware of the things that can go wrong, but I could use any advice or experience. I know cylinders can fill with liquid and then do damage. Or corrosion. Or ???.
And thanks much for your concern enough to post. I really appreciate it.
