Passenger footwell insulation
How important is the fiber and black tar like instulation around the control units in the passenger footwell - flap/compartment secured with a snap? The black sound deadening (?) stuff is all crumbling, so I pulled it out. Do I need to repalce this with something else? If it is just sound deadening, I sure don't hear any diff with it out...
Thanks,
Bill

But, to answer your question, I don't think the little computer-covering-flap has any protective or noise insulating value. On my '89 its just a bit of limp carpet. I'll likely build someting more substantial soon.
