Default 83 euroS vs 91 S4

Looking at a 91 S4 auto, currently own 83EuroS
are most initial maintenance issues the same?
Things like suspension sag, motor mounts, electrical similar?
I know differences in FI and engine management.
Are ABS and LSD reliable?

The LSD in the 90+ cars is a hydraulic unit called PSD. It is reliable when flushed at the correct intervals and rarely fails unless it has been heavily abused and not maintained.

Suspension is pretty much the same as the 83, just with forged non serviceable upper arms compared to the earlier cast ones.

ABS is also very reliable so long as the fluid is flushed at the correct service intervals.

Motor mounts are the same as an 83 so you know how often they fail. You really need the belly pans in place to keep them from getting cooked by the engine heat.

Electrical is similar in the sense it is for a 928, but much more complex on the 91 compared to an 83. It will have the same issues with grounds and cooked engine looms as all the other years as well. At least it is consistent lol.

You also need to be much more on top of changing your timing belt at the regular service intervals because when it fails it will bend valves.

You also need to release the flex plate clamp and check for end play on the crank to see if it will suffer from TBF due to the poor clamp design. You can replace the clamp with the Constantine super clamp, Pklamp, among others.

The 91 is much more of a luxury cruiser and the 83 is much more of a sports car as far as 928s go. Have fun, you can't go wrong either way.
