My post above isn't a theory: I do this each and every time the oil system has been drained (cooler and/or hoses) or if the engine has sat for more than 6-8 weeks without running.

fill the crankcase with oil,
then start the engine,
let it idle.
NOTE if you dont get oil pressure in 20 seconds then shut it off.
NOTE you should see indications of oil pressure in less than 5 seconds as a norm.
NOTE as obvious as it sounds after you start the engine and have oil pressure take a few mins to check for leaks

I can confirm that (at least on my car) the pressure gauge do not show anything while cranking before the car fires up. I have confirmed by starting up after oil pressure is ok again and it's the same then.

Glad it’s back to normal
It iwould be wise to take an oil sample to see if you have any metal in the oil
pull the dipstick and drop the oil in a black piece of cardboard look at the oil in the sun
Note this is just to verify that major damage was not caused by the original oil leak
