Default Decode Porsche Screw/Washer sizes...?

4,8 X 16

Clearly a 16mm screw, but what does 4,8 mean?
And the washer for that, what does 5,3 mean?

It’s thd diameter, generally this fractional dimension is for tapping screws and body panel screws.

Check out www.bellmetric.com for an awesome collection of yellow zinc screws, bolts, washers in metric dimensions

I use BM, but what size IS a 4,8, or a 5,3?

Is it a 4mm screw, that has a 5mm washer?

4,8 is a sheet metal screw diameter 4,8mm. 5,3 is a sheet metal screw diameter 5,3mm.
Porsche is a car made in Germany. Everything is metric. Forget about the imperial system.

Jeff - The comma indicates the decimal point instead of the US convention of using a period, so "4,8" in Europe is "4.8" over here.....

So a 4,8 x 13 is a washer for a 4.8mm screw that is 13mm in diameter.

Nearly every piece of hardware in the Porsche parts system starts with either a 900 number if its specs are called out under a DIN standard, or 999 if they're not. Pretty much every type of standard hardware has its own DIN standard, so pan head philips machine screws are DIN 7985, hex head bolts are either DIN 931 or 933 depending whether they're partial or full thread, etc. So the specs in PET depend on what you're talking about. A 4.8x13 tapping screw has a 4.8 mm diameter shaft and a 13 mm length. Washers are called out differently, so an A10,5 washer has a 10 mm hole with a 5mm wide ring, so its OD is 20 mm. And the 'A' refers to there being no chamfer on the outer edge of the face that the fastener clamps against, while 'B' washers have a chamfer. (Think crank bolt washer- big *** chamfer...)

Ya, the comma threw me off.

4,8 = 4.8metric tapping screw

If a washer says 5,3, it is 5mm ID, and 3mm ring, for a total width of 11mm.

IF...it is a B5,3, it is a washer with a beveled edge, and that bevel sits on the bolt (top) side when you fit it.

An A5,3 would be a straight cut, no bevel washer.

If a screw is "Tapping Screw B 4,8 X 22" B=Black, 4.8mm, 22mm long <---2% uncertainty on the "B" designation here.
