Voskian, right around the Amesbury/Newburyport area !

i just ordered a new ground cable for the battery negative to body , and hopefully will be able to see if that creates any positive change in the idle/ charging quality.

Id like to be able to pull all my bulb housings that have a bulb out, clean the contacts and replace the bulbs if needed, and clean up the mating surfaces from the light housings to the body.

It it may be a reach, but if I can get those issues addressed, i would love to bring it out to the monthly Cars and Coffee event in Newington , NHheld the first Sunday of every month [weather permitting] at the Fox Run Mall . It is usually a big turnout , and in the year or so i have been going, only have seen one other 928!

Hopeully there will be some more updates either Thursday or Sunday, if the ground cable comes in.. Also have to install an Oil pan on my GTI as well this week

have a good evening , all!

Little update. My replacement battery ground cable came in, so I made a trip of my day to tinker on the 928. Brought along my DVOM this time. Resistance on the original cable was .3 ohms and didn’t appear to fluctuate when wiggled (id assume it’s okay) replaced it anyways. Pulled the passenger floor carpet up and went checking fuses. Most received 10.8 -11 v with Key on engine off, and light switch on (I was also troubleshooting why the right side parking lamps are inop) whereas my battery was at about 12.4V. This seems like a big voltage drop as far as I am aware of. Started the car with accessories off, and the dash voltmeter was a hair above 12 on the dash. (13ish on the battery terminals) I removed the fuse for right side parking lamps and scuffed up the contacts with a small file. Right side lights came to life! Attached a jumper cable from the engine to strut post, (trying to add an additional ground) and it started up right away (usually have to give a little gas) battery was now reading 14.2V (seems good to me) . Ran for about 20 minutes with 14+ volts measured at the battery . After having it running a bit, I went and pulled all my fuses and have a good rub down on all the contact points. Engine was hesitant to start at this time and was only about 13.3 volts when running...

the fuses in in the fuse box are pretty ancient from my understanding see below pictures . There was one buss style fuse in the fusebox. Is it at all recommended to replace the old metal strip style fuses with anything else?

im bordering that there is a potential ground side issue , based on my lack of full source voltage at the fuse box
