Loosen the lock nut at the engine end, unthread the coupler and the nut. At the gearbox end, disconnect the coupler from the TV lever. Pull the cable out to the rear. You may want to add a strong thread to the engine end with tape or heat shrink, and feed it into the tube as the cable is withdrawn. You’ll have that to help pull the new cable into place.
The cable fits through lined flex sections at either end. If the cable shows wear, inspect the housing and the flex sections to see if a failure in the lining is wearing on the cable. Ok to lube it as it goes back in.
