Default My S3 Lives......A Hearfelt Thanks.

Hi Guys,

I drove the car today for the first time in 2 years. It was only a short shake down run but with engine temps up and gearbox temps up I gave it a guts full. It lit up the tyres in 2nd gear and the smell of rubber permeated the cabin. These tyres are 265 /40 /18 Pirellis so can't be doing that to often!
I owe a great deal of thanks to the many members on this forum who take the time to build, supply and share their knowledge so grunts like me can own one of the greatest machines to ever grace the roads of mother earth.
I'd like to thank Roger and the team for supplying a bundle of parts and getting them to me on the other side of the planet faster than Porsche Australia could ever hope to. All at a cost half of what Porsche Australia wants. So, Roger, thanks mate.
Also to Greg for information and answering my questions. Given how busy you are I truly appreciate your time. And to Stan who has reminded me of parts to not forget when re-assembly time comes. His advice saved me the cost of a new wheel bearing had he not reminded me to install the back plate first. And to Ken for making the parts and chips to keep things running sweet and smooth. I can't believe just how much added HP the car now has. And to John for his advice on the injectors etc. And to all the guys that have helped me along the way, the list is long, I say thank you very much. Without your assistance I'd still be sitting in my garage looking at my car. This is one of the best resources ever constructed for the 928 and I'm proud to be one of members and beneficiaries. Hopefully I get to meet some of you guys at a large Porsche meet over there one day where the drinks will be on me.
I'll post pics and some video when I've done all the final buttoning up.

Cheers
Scott

Well.. no pictures really necessary for a heart-felt thanks to those who helped the OP. I'm not suggesting pictures wouldn't be cool but they're not really necessary to thank someone.

It's a thing we do in this forum, nothing personal

There are some serious man-hours in those photos!! Congrats Scott.

What are those air filter box clips? Never seen shiny ones before.

Upgraded front sway bar?

Cheers. The air box clips were yellow zinc plated. The fellow who done most of the plating coats rubber parts that are bonded to metal in a silicone gel so the chemicals don't break down the rubber.
Front sway bar is original. Just powder coated.

Thanks Chris. I've never undertaken anything like this before, so there's always that apprehensive moment before you crank the starter with those dreaded thoughts of "did I tighten this, did I remember to do that'. Apart from a dud injector, and thanks to a member I worked out which one it was, it fired straight up. I know one thing.......F$%^ those lifters are noisy when it first starts.

^This. It's a lovely car, at least the engine.

I don't recall how much (if any) I offered suggestions or advice.

But if I did, and you feel the need to express thanks...

Please do so with pics.

Pretty much a "Here is the result of all your help and advice" is the 'thank you' I would prefer.
