Sorry about the delay on getting a new batch out, Scott. We've had a lot going on with our family over the last few months. It's going to get a lot better over the next few weeks and I have every intention of making a new batch ASAP.
I would love a set or two as well. I've subscribed to this thread, in case you post here when they are available. Thanks for making such a great product, and please don't feel any rush to get them made. Family is much more important than cars!
The answer wasn't readily apparent, so I have a question. What bulbs will definitely fit with this? Are there options, or just one?
There's only one LED H4 bulb design that I'm sure will work.
I just started making an updated list of appropriate ones I found on Amazon. They keep showing up under different brand names, and some old links on Amazon to ones that worked now have different designs, so you can't necessarily trust old links you find in older Rennlist 928 Forum threads.
I'll try to get a good up-to-date list assembled and provide it later today.
Anybody who has recently bought bulbs that work with the caps, feel free to chime in.
If you're in a hurry, here's one of the first ones that I came across. Not necessarily the best source/price, but it would work:
For future reference (as the above links will probably break within a few months), a good search string to use when searching on Amazon or eBay is "H4 LED G7" or "H4 LED S7". As you're examining the details, you'll likely see any or all of the following:
"Philips" (big, multinational Dutch company, parent company of Lumileds)
"Z ES" or "ZES" (a high-power LED in the Luxeon line of products)
If the photos look like this (and they actually ship you what's shown in the photos!), it's probably compatible with the sealing caps. The color of the heat sink and driver modules may vary, but the geometry of the unit is what's really important (the shape/length/diameter of the barrel that the heatsink screws onto, the number of LED emitters, the shape/size of the heat sink, etc.)
I ordered my bulbs before you put up this list and I had to modify the control driver a bit to make it work. In case someone else has this issue here is what I did.
The lid on the control driver is only screwed down diagonally and with smaller screws than supplied in the sealing cap kit.
Small screw from control driver on left, larger screw from kit on right.
The back of the lid has indents to drill a new hole.
Hole drilled
Then I drilled a new hole in the control driver itself and drilled out the existing hole that was too small and tapped both at M3 x 0.5.
That's all
Ed, you may want to make a note in the instructions about the foglamp relay having to be switched out for a "53" for all the lamps to work properly. Really nice kit by the way.
That's interesting... sorry you had to modify the driver module.
I remember looking at those bulbs and didn't list them, not because of the driver module (the back isn't even shown in any of the photos on Amazon), but because I was seeing subtle differences in the bulb design. The reflector for the low beams looks a little different (it appears to be curved rather than flat, which is fine, but still different), and I wasn't seeing a chamfer on the barrel where it transitions to the threaded section. That made me a little concerned that the O-ring on the cap might be dislodged too easily when the cap is pressed over the bulb barrel (and perhaps the bulb barrel might not be as long as the specific model I was recommending and designed for). There's also what appears to be a set screw on the barrel right around where the cap's O-ring might land, too. Did the cap fit over the bulb barrel OK, and the cap's O-ring seem to land in an acceptable location on the barrel?
Do you know what kinds of screws (especially thread pitch) that the FMS module used? 2.5 mm? Or maybe not even metric.
