Lazy guy asking for production numbers on GTS
I know that I can find this answer with a little effort, but I’m taking the path of least resistance. Can anyone here tell me how many manual transmission GTS were built for both the ROW and NA markets? I don’t need the breakdown by year if that’s more trouble.
Thanks to whomever can answer this.

Not sure on worldwide production, but for North America there are 167 manuals (41% of the 406 produced). Worldwide, there are about 2,900 GTSs, so figure ~1,200 if the 41% figure is accurate outside North America.

The US #'s include Canada of which only 6 manual transmission GTS's were sold starting in 1992. The cars are very similar to the US car with a few standard differnces with Canadian models having heated seats, no rear a/c, daylight running lights and guages in metric (km speedo etc).

Thank you so much Rob, that is perfect. Can I move from lazy to greedy and ask what the split is between the first run of GTS and the very final ones that had just a few more changes made to the spec by Porsche (I seem to recall this being about 18 months before production ended)?

Not sure if there's really a defined split- Some would say the '93s are early and the 94-95 are late, through the 1st 15 of the US market cars sold as '94s are listed in the PET database as '93s (and are, from the standpoint of still having RDK and Cup1 wheels, and no pollen filter). They're the so-called M718 cars. A perhaps more practical early vs. late 'split' might be the cars that got the 2R connecting rods, which started with September 1993 production, engine #s 85R00533 for 5-speeds and 85R50597 for Autos.

I think (!) all US '93s are r134a. Or at least I know my late '93 (PS820084) is. The 1993 Service info book mentions the changeover, so pretty sure it's for the entire model year.

my 93, build date May 92 is r134a. I have service receipts from day it was bought to 102,000, all done at Reeves Porsche in Tampa, and no mention of any conversion.

Every ‘93 I had my hands on was factory R12.
My ‘94 is factory r134.
IIRC factory r134 means the low-side port is under the firewall plenum drip shield. And an r134 port near the jump post is an r12 conversion.
