Default Heater control unit Operation

I feel pretty dumb asking this question but here goes. When I look at the vent slide unit, I don't know what is the setting for recirculating the air for getting better AC performance ?
I have posted a picture. I have been using the first selector position which is the rectangle, and the air comes out from the center flap and the door side flaps, which is what I prefer, so I am getting cold air in my face !
When I looked at the information they seem to suggest to use recirculating air, that is not the option to use ?

You can see I have highlighted in yellow the settings. If someone has a link to where it explains the controls i would be very happy to read on.

Hey André,

On my car, the recirculation position is at the far left (under the "18").
From my owner's manual, it's said to use this "for brief operation, e.g. when passing through disagreeable odors" only.

The specific behavior of the recirc flap is different depending on the version of the climate control head . Mostly, the control unit selects recirc automatically based on the position of the temp setting motor. If the motor is trying to make MAX heat or MAX cool, the recirc flap is "recirculating" air from the cabin through the HVAC system. Once the setting motor moves away from the MAX position (heat or cool) the flap changes over to drawing fresh air from outside the cabin. The recirc position on the control unit started in 1991.
