Help stranded in Tempe AZ need Audi Independent ASAP
HELP!!. I know it’s not a 928 issue but I trust my fellow 928 owners. I’m on a family vacation from CA by car in my wife’s Audi SQ5 and after a seven hundred mile tour it just started sputtering and check engine light same on. Not running hot and oil level is full. No indication of any issues on any gauges or fluid levels.
Lucky we were just pulling up to the hotel but it’s July 4th and no one is open.
Anyone know of a repitable indpendent Audi service near by? I’m in downtown Tempe Arizona.
Got to be back in CA Sunday so this is a bit stressful logistically.
Thanks!!

Did it run ok after the check engine light came on? This is a q5 right....?
i just sold a q7 , did the same thing...turned out to be an oxygen sensor...ran just fine with the light on, used a little more gas, and shifted a little harder. Put 6000 miles on it like that.

Have you tried Audi Roadside Assistance?

It’s an SQ5. Ran terrific whole 500 miles of vacation. Runs ok with engine light on but then sputters and looses power. Have to stop restart and drive and sputtered again. Luckily happened a mile away from hotel where we will be for four days. I’ll tow to dealer tomorrow. Unless I can find a highly recommended Indy before 7am tomorrow.

How many miles and what MY is your SQ5? My E90 BMW 335xi did that and it was the water pump. No indication of overheating nor any preceding warning, it just went to "limp-mode" 2 blocks from my house at ~50k miles.
If it sputters like a misfire, then its the coils (easy fix but the dealer will rip you off).
Hopefully, you get the car situated and able to get home!

Dan at exotic is good and has recently expanded his shop to service other German cars. Exotic is near Scottsdale airport. German Car Service is a few miles north of you on Scottsdale road. I have no experience with them but they have been there a long time and always seem busy and have great reviews.
