Default What seats are these?

I believe these seats are aftermarket swaps. What and where did they come from?

Pappy-

Those sure look like pre-1985 911/930 sport seats:

Nicole is right. They are the sport seats that came with the Competition Package. I have them in my 82. They are tight and comfortable and all manual.

Default thanks

Thank you very much. Now, to me, the power seats appear more 'plush' and more comfortable or is this a misnomer?

The power seats have thicker, squishier cushioning down the center, and a little less side bolstering. I think it comes down to personal preference. If the sport seats happen fit your back well, they're awsome. Its like getting a constant hug to hold you in the twisties . Otherwise, the thicker and more yielding power seat cushioning can conform to fit a wider range of shapes and sizes.

I like how much quicker it is to adjust the manual seats. Brian, a head taller than me, drives both the sharks sometimes. Its a quick zip forward in the '84, or 30sec of slow-motion motor whir in the '82.

People who have ridden in my car often comment on the seats. They hold them in a comfortable way yet give a safe feeling. As I have mentioned before, these seats feel like a very comfortable leather jacket.

Jessa: I like your comments on manual versus electric. The only reason why power seats makes sense to me is because of the memory for different drivers. But my cars are rearely driven by someone else, so it's really an unnecessary feature - it's just there because it belongs to the "Class" of this car ("luxury"). I don't think I would want to pay extra for it, if I had to.

The few power things I insist on in a car are power door locks, power windows, and power mirrors. REmote trunk release is nice when it works, but not crucial. Most other stuff is nice to have but not really necessary. Kind of the "gadget factor" of the car...

Not to mention that the brain for memory seats is ~$1K if it needs to be replaced!

Ouch! How did you find that out? Hope it wasn't the hard way...

I agree with Chucker, the 'Competition Group' seats fit like a glove.

My only quibble is that I want for more lumbar support.

Pappy,
I agree about the seats. They are manual sport seats from competition package on early 80's 928. They were not transplanted.

I actually like them better than the power seats from a comfort standpoint and there is another bonus if you are tall. You get a couple of inches more headroom because they sit closer to the floor.

Cheers

Here is photo of seats in what used to be my '82 w/comp package.
