Ticking noise from underneath the engine S4 -90
Hi!
Preparing for a timingbelt change and moved the car today. The car hasnt been started for 1½ years so ofcourse I listened to it more carefully than I normally would.
What I didnt like was a ticking sound that sounds like a valve but its strongest underneath the car. I am uploading a video so that you can listen and will share it as soon as it is ready. This doesnt really feel good in the stomach so I would like to try to find the source of this sound so that it can be fixed and hopefully its not coming from inside the engine... By just listening underneath the car from the side it sems to come from the back of the engine where the connection to the transaxle is but I´m not sure.
Does anyone have a clue what it could be? Any suggestions on how to seek up the source would be much appriciated,

Thanx!

It sounds like a lifter which bled down after sitting for so long.
First check your oil level, then start it up and let it sit and idle, and it will eventually pump back up.
I've had it happen several times over the years.

Agreed. Get it warmed up and bring RPM's up to 2K. Had the same after sitting all winter on my GTS.

Hi!
Thank you! I think I have come to the same conclusion. I lifted the car and took of the enginecovers and started the engine and could now pinpoint the sound to be from the cylinder at the back of the engine on the drivers side. As I was videotaping it the noise dissapeared and I felt instantly calmer
I think I was just nervous for startint the car after so long,,,

Porsche 928 S4 ticking sound
Thank you! Here is some pictures on it.
Its not as you can see original in the front and I´m constantly thinking about getting the original bumper and switch it back. Its not that it is ugly as it is but I would like to have it stock.
On vacation in Europe. Picture is taken in Holland. The trip was on about 3500miles. Not a single problem during the entire trip
Recent photo of the car. The front is designed and manufactured in france by Jacuemond
