No Power to Reverse Switch 928
I have a 1985 Porsche 928 5 speed, I have no power to mt reverse lights, The Bulbs are good, The back light switch is good, I have pull all the fuses and checked them, The relay that is suppose to turn them on is good, that relay if I am correct also controls the power to the side mirrors, they are working, I don't know what to do next, Again there is no power to the back up switch in this manual transmission, HELP

Hi, do you have power at the connection in the spare tire compartment?
From there it goes to the switch on the trans, IIRC. There also should be a metal bar like jumper in place of the Auto Kick down relay.in the CE panel.
Does the Key alarm work? (turn off car, leave key in and open a door), chime should sound, same as if light are left on.

Thank-you for your information, The Power were the Battery is , I That I see that I can check it the Battery, I not sure by what you mean from your 2nd statement, "Metal Bar"?, the relay for the lights are on the panel on passenger side, "HOWEVER," when I leave the Key and open the Door, The Alarm will "NOT"
Battery Compartment, I only that the Positive & Negative Connection, off the positive is another wire which leads under the Automobile
some where I attached a photo of my battery compartment

What Dave means by "Metal Bar", is that in XXII position of the CE panel there should be no #53 relay when you have a manual transmission. There should be a jumper bar there. #53 relay is only when you have a Automatic.
See pic below.
Also, print yourself out one of Alan's CE charts for your 85. Post #9

Thank-you
If it were me, I would purchase the correct jumper for XXII to replace the relay and go from there. You can contact 928Rus or 928 International for these. They are not expensive. I cannot tell you if using a relay in this position, instead of the jumper (on a manual) would not get power to the reverse switch or not. Maybe someone like Dave or Alan can explain it.

I'm not entirely sure I understand it, but if I'm wrong, hopefully one of the 'smart guys' will correct me.
Your problem is that the relay won't work. It needs the 'jumper bar'. It's just a brass plate, bent at the right angles in the right places.
The autos use the shifter to activate the reverse lights. It uses a smaller switch that goes through the relay and makes them go on.
The 5 speeds use a switch inside the transmission itself. Big and robust enough to handle the current without a relay. So the relay just gets bypassed.
Again, this may or may not be correct. But it's how I understand the setup.
