Default cup mirror assembly: pointers?

hey, here is a pic of my cup mirrors as i try and put them together: A goes to B goes to C as far as i can tell. however, A wont easily push up inside of B to hold C and im afraid the plastic will break if i put more pressure on it! any suggestions??

i had to put the pssgr mirror on my 86.5 back together... that stupid spring is a royal pain in the ***. I don't even remember how i ended up doing it, i'm just glad its done. I think i just used excessive finger-force to push it up while trying to catch it on the other end.

to get it to engage you are working against that rather strong spring ....it takes two people one holding the mirror housing carefully to avoid scratching the paint ) the other pushing in on the bolt compressing the spring then turning it to the locked positon . Be careful not to try forcing it to turn , when pushed in far enough it turns freely .
