I've owned 911, 944, 928 and had experience with many other Porsches. I note locally a 34k mile Boxster (2000 model) is for sale for $34k. It boasts a brand new clutch, rotors etc .... Dang, my S4 is on her second clutch, I drive her like a sports car, and I have no problems. At 160k miles!!!!!! Let's see, by then this 2000 Boxster would have had 4 or 5 clutches?
My 911SC has at 150k miles, had a complete rebuild of the engine and tranny. And she's been through 4 clutches also.
Hmmmmm ......

Sometimes things like this WILL be a good indicator of how good or reliable certain parts or cars are, but is usually more of an indicator of a previous owners driving style. I have seen numerous 928 clutches being replaced at 40-50K, and some that are still in service at 80k........all depends on how it was used or abused.
As far as brakes go, have you ever seen a 928 rotor after a single full
use with stock "Porsche" pads?? They are VERY hard on rotors compared to many other aftermarket brands. Porsche, as do many other makers, really don't care that much about rotor wear, dust, etc., they would rather have very short stopping distances and list rotors and brake pads as
"regular maintenance" items instead of being waranteed.

Since the rotors are only slightly more expensive than a pair of aftermarket pads, it seems reasonable to me that they are "regular maintenance" items. However it is a little irritating that I also need to replace mine...
