The more you pay for a car, the less reliable it will be. Unless it's a Porsche.

I took a bit of flack over on the Pelican BBS for saying the same thing as Clarkson: that the 911's engine placement is an engineering mistake that - due to customer demand - Porsche has had to spend decades trying to correct. Every time Porsche has been given a free hand, they've gone with either the 924/944/928 layout of a front engine and rear trans, or mid-engine (914, 986).

I agree (of course) that the 928 is the curiously unsung supercar, doing everything the others do but unappreciated; then again, it's also the best bang/buck on the supercar market and I'm hoping people don't wake up until I've found mine!

Anders,
Thank you...great read. Can you please post the reference for Clarkson's op ed piece? It looks as if it came from a book...perhaps a forward? Many thanks for your assistance.
Best,
TUK

Anders,
Many thanks for the reference URL. I had not seen this book but I do own several things written by Herr Clarkson.
Best,
TUK
