Edit: Refitting engine harness question, KNOWN device but why?
Hi Guys,
I started refitting a new engine harness (great peace of art btw) and stumbled upon a piece of wiring i actually don't know where it is used for.
Here a picture of the situation before i pulled the engine, its in front of the waterbridge:
(one cable was cut on the cable shoe, and three were attached to plastic sort connector (red, brow, red i think) did not seem to connected to anything (looks not in use at this point).
This is my new great fresh engine harnes, it has different connections, so i am wondering if anybody knows what its for:
Again, thanks in advance!

I guess you have a RoW CIS engine 1980 or later. If so it's the wires for the hot start valve (solenoid and temp switch) located on the rear of the passenger side of the engine.

Thanks for the reply. Its a '79 k-jetronic or CIS. I dont think this cables are not long enough to even reach the rear of the engine. The look like the replacements of the first picture but again i am wondering what this connector does since it is litterly hanging from a tiewrap connected to nothing.

Where did the replacement wiring harness come from? Is it an original Porsche harness? If it is original Porsche, is it made to original specification for your specific car year and model?

I think that is my point, the device looks like it should not be there (also cant find it in literature or pictures of ‘79 style engines)... but whats up with the extra wires

The extra wires is for the hot start valve as i mentioned in the second post (wires are routed under the spider to the rear of the engine). Hot start valve wasn't installed on all CIS cars.

On my '83 euro, the cold start valve is an 'L-Jet type' of injector mounted to the front of the plenum above the WUR.. As for the 'extra part', cut the tie wrap and find out that it's wired up to..

Ok i found out what the device is a VDO 412.201\2 which is apparently a voltage Stabilizer. Not sure where it is used for...
@SwedeInSiam i do not have the hot start valve at the rear of the engine so basicly i do not need that part of the wire i guess.
Now i am curious why this stablizer was placed on the engine
