Default Timing belts

I am looking at an 85' 928S with 117000 on the clock. The belts were changed at 84k but that was 6years and 1 month ago. Is it important to change them after 5 years or so or do you just go by the milage or both. My 944 needs to be changed every 30K. Is this the same for the 928S? Thanks so much for your input.

It's the same for the 928's, change the engine or change the belt - which ever comes first.

The 944 engine is based on the right side of the V8 block of the 928.

I think the manual says 45K/5 years; and I know some go over the 45K, they may check it a little more often after 45K. YMMV.

Check the archives and Nichols site.
The Guru's have had their say there.
I trust their experience and recommendations.
