Default AC compressor

I am looking at an 85' 928S and the A/C doesn't blow cold air. The owner thinks that it is leaking freon but is unsure where from. I have to assume that it is worstr case scenario and the Compressor is bad. If that is so, how much in labor and unit cost am I looking at? I saw a rebuilt one on 928intl for $250. Please let me know what the deal with this issue is. Thanks.

The 928 A/C system is generic. There are no weird Porsche-only parts in there to make it lighter or anything like that.

Any decent A/C shop can diagnose the problems. Don't just toss in the cash. Could be a fitting.

You might check out www.griffiths.com. They (OK, he) offers a R134 conversion kit for $650 including the hoses.
