HVAC control unit slider **** lighting
the slider ***** on my HVAC control unit are very dim when the lights are on. I opened up the unit, replaced the bulb,
and checked the ends of the light cables. plenty of light at the end of the cable. after the cable would not go into the slider
as deeply as I believe it should. thought I read thatthe way to remedy is to buy new sliders and drill the hole open a bit larger
to push the cable in further?
I found this picture from a previous post and wonder if this is as good as it gets? my light level for the sliders is similar.

Thats not bad, actually. About the same as the fan control...
These things are supposed to be relatively muted as far as lighting...dont want bright points of light in peripheral vision at night.

not looking for them to be overpowering, I just thought since all AC control unit lighting
is fed thru those cables, that the sliders would be as bright as the panel......guess not.

The panel has an actual light bulb behind it.
If you took it all apart, im sure theres some varnish and gunk to clean out of the windows for those light pipe displays...but thats inviting some more broken stuff.
Greg Browns shop R&Rs these with new relays, everything cleaned..etc. Worth a direct swap perhaps. I know a refreshed one without a swap is a little pricey, but if yours is good, thats gotta be worth something..but im not sure.

again....agreed. I put it all back together as is. AC controls work as they should and my
air is ice cold.
I have bigger fish to fry: like new front brakes on the horizon, and for luxury items, would
like an X pipe and maybe a rebuilt MAF. so, I am movin' on from this nonsense! lol
