Mirror memory strange behaviour S4
I am getting some strange behaviour with my mirrors when I use the memory function on my S4.
The mirrors work manually without any issue.
When I try and program a new setup the mirrors have a mind of their own and go off on their own to a different setting. The seat setting works as it should.
I read that some people have had big issues with the memory module not working or working intermittently but I have not found this issue.
Any ideas or has anyone had this problem?

I have this problem too but in my case it's that both mirrors don't move left and right with the memory switch.
No problem up and down. Manually, no problem either.
I remember reading something here on this particular problem and if I remember well, it was a bad solder in the memory box.
But I can't find the thread right now.
Didn't do anything with that yet...
Edit: I found this. I think that's the one.

I found a very good thread on mirror memory issues. It could be the potentiometer in the mirror that is causing the problem.
Only problem is that I don’t know what that looks like, does anyone have a picture of the part they can share?

[QUOTEInteresting, were you spraying the multi pin connections in the mirror? ][/QUOTE]
I sprayed every switch and connection I could. also sprayed under the mirror joystick, from the topside.

FWIW, a lot of mirror adjustment issues are the door L/R and joystick switches, they're available, #26 and #30.

$150 will get ya both, but they were worth it to me. They all adjust perfectly now.
I too with memory have one mirror that loses it mind...sometimes.

I had the good fortune to have a guy named Dave Lomas resolder the relay board in my 88 S4 this was a unit under one of the front seats the solder joints get funky it requires seat removal then relay board removal from the bottom of the seat
it took him about 2 hours to do the solder work now it’s been working great for the last 12 years time flies

The manual adjustment works well, it just seems to be the ability of the mirror to reach the correct memory position. It moves when you press the memory setting button but just goes to the same weird position every time.
Thats why I am gunning for the potentiometer
