I have not yet received it. Just ordered it the other day. I did look over the Rennlist archives and it seemed the concensus was that the pre-87 models showed the biggest gains. I thought it said the S4 was around 15 HP gain and the GT was 5-10HP.

They made my 87' auto run smoother and stronger. The best $300 (bought on ebay) I spent on the car so far. Make sure you get the installation instruction from the seller.

OK, ther may be more to it than that, but that's the idea.
Disconnect the battery ground strap.
Remove the pass side package tray under the glove box.
Remove the pass side carpet, including the carpet cover over the two brain boxes on the right side of the pass footwell.
Remove the electrical connectors from the two metal brain boxes there. Those connectors latch at one end and rotate out of the box from the other end.
Remove the two boxes. An allen socket bit on a ratchet is a lot faster than trying this with an angle Allen wrench key, by the way.
Each of the two boxes has a PROM chip in it that will be replaced by one of your new chips, so you need to get the covers off the two boxes. Those tabs get carefully bent up so the cover can come off of one box. The other box is pretty obvious how it comes apart -- screwdriver will do the trick.
The part number on the case has EZK on one and LHA in the other, so that's pretty simple. The new Autothority chips come labeled for which controller they go to. It's usually a good idea to mark which box each of the 'old' chips came from. I used a piece of high-tech masking tape, and wrote the name of the controller on a piece of tape in case I ever needed to put them back in.
Anyway, split the circuit boards open and see where you need to get the old prom lifted from the socket and the new one installed. Take note the direction that the little dimple is facing on the old chip, and be sure that the new one is installed facing the same way.
After that, assembly is the reverse of the disassembly process. Note that there is a finite number of times you can re-bend all those little tabs open and closed. Be sure to press the two cover halves together hard before you bend any tabs back.
Save the old chips in the same static-safe foam that the new chips came in, and put them someplace where you won't forget them. You'll want to have them available if you have a problem at smog check time, or if you ever need the brain replaced. Don't want to 'trade in' the expensive chipset on an exchange "stock" unit, do we?
HTH!
