Anyone have any photos or ideas?

It’s a rectangle, black, 8 pin connector.

The wiring harness for the A/C control doesn't have the wires for the A/C switch. According to my schematic (1982) there's no wires for the switch. The 1980 schematic has the wires joined to the control harness. This a 82 and I don't think this switch is applicable. Is that possible? It has the A/C button and a exclamation red exclamation point.

Post a picture of your climate control head. Auto climate heads from 80-83 didn't use an AC button. You may have the wrong warning indicator.

So doe's the 82 turn on the A/C when you move the slider to cold?

There's the answer, your 82 has auto climate control and doesn't use the AC button. Either find the correct warning panel without it or use the one you have with the AC button doing nothing.

Correct. You don't have a "button". So that panel has been switched at some point

Yes, according to the owners manual, you have to move slider to the right 2 positions.
