Quickjack 3500 with a 928

So the answer is yes, the 3500 can lift a 928.
Here is the prototype that I used to prove my idea.
It is two 1.5 inch square 14 gauge steel tubes 61 inches long side by side. For the test I clamped them together, I intend to weld them now.
To transfer the weight to the pans of the Quickjack I used 2 hockey pucks at each end (you are not supposed to lift using the top bars of the Quickjack frame), but that was not quite enough, so I put a piece of ¼ inch plywood under the pucks in the pan.
The quickjacks are “backwards”, i.e. rotating up towards the front of the car… mostly because I have no room in the back the way the car is parked in the garage, they are clear of the wheels so that is good enough for me.
With my ride height and the phonedials I used hockey a puck between the tubes and the front lift-point and the shorter Quickjack rubber block at the rear.
(The green masking tape was help me see where the lift-points are during setup without laying on the floor.)
The tubes could be a few inches shorter than 61" but there are no clearance problems at that length.
When I have the welder out I will weld some tabs on the bottom of the tubes to position them longitudinally on the Quickjacks.

Tony,
The BL-5000SLX is the right model for the 928. The original was about 9 inches too short.
I got Bill's old BL-5000 (thanks Bill) and welded on an extension similar to what they did to the SLX model.
This works,
but just buying the new SLX version is an easier way to go. This was my first welding project after getting my welding class cert at the beginning of the year, not very pretty, but way over built...

Update - the Quickjack may not be the best option. For one, the customer service is terrible. Absolutely horrible. Just got off the phone with them. I've had my unit for only 6 months now, and have had some serious issues, including right out of the box - the air nipple on one of the air cylinders would not hold air and I needed to get that replaced before I could use the system.
Recently, one of the hose couplings failed, and if the car had been lifted higher, it would have tipped off the lift. I had to have new ones sent, plus new pads for the motor unit because the little rubber ones that came with it broke off. They sent the wrong parts for the foot pads - not even pads at all. So I called to get that rectified and got nothing but attitude from the smug CSR. They want me to take a picture of what I got and what I need and send them that then they'll send me the right ones - more delay and bullsh!t. These little pads are like 15 cents - they should just toss some in a bag and send them out.
Anyway - I am glad I have my lift bars, and they are going nowhere!

<touch wood> No issues at all with mine. only the air cylinders do lose pressure over time...which i would expect actually. Car is up on them now for a few months.

Based on reviews here and elsewhere, picked up the 7000 SLX this week. Car is on it now. First impressions are favorable. Only thing I don't like is the stacking rubber blocks - seems a rather flimsy solution. The car wiggles a bit too much for my liking. And the extenders for trucks/SUVS look scary. Decided I'll be welding up a larger drop in spacer instead of the bottom block. Cheers

Update - Bendpack (Quickjack company) came through. I had to go through non-standard channels found via a similar thread in the 997 forum, https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...00-lb-fit.html. Tyler came through and sent me all new hoses and connections, plus a few other goodies. Hopefully problems solved once and for all!

My BL-7000SLX fits all 928's perfectly. Is a lot longer than the 3500. All in with the SUV pucks, was $1700. Drawback is the weight to transport. A two man operation but I don't move it out of the garage. Welding all those bars seems like a hassle.
