Default Speedo/Odometer repair (cross posted)

Hi everyone,
Hope your weekend is going well.
I am looking for a past post detailing how to redo the VDO speedo/odometer (quite good post, imho).

As luck would have it, I ran across a post outlining the procedure to replace the speedo gear, reset the odometer (add a few miles to the total) and correct for slop in the drive mechanism of the odometer. I bookmarked the page and planned to review it before fixing my speedo head (second time - I had the slop issue I think). Of course, the next ting that happened was the PC died taking the bookmark with it.

I have looked through the various forums for the post but have not found it.

Does anyone remember a post (rather long discussion with multiple pictures) about fixing the VDO speedo had. I think it was in the 944 forum but could have been another as the head was used all over.

Of course, I have the instrument cluster on my workbench and need to review the steps the author took to redo his unit.
Thanks in advance.
Ed

There is a thread on it somewhere, but this is the identical writeup.

Be aware that in the disassembly part, there is some 'out of order' stuff. Read through it a couple times and you will figure it out.
