Hi folks, I am replacing the aluminium ball joints on my 79, and have discovered frustratingly that the new steel version seems to be different..

But, further searches are saying that the steel versions have 2 x 26mm eccentrics - so I now also need to buy these? (which are for 'after 86')

or these which are 'until 86'?

They both seem to have the larger central adjuster (26mm) but the pre 86 ones are wider in overall diameter. Which do I need?
(Edit - I also read that I maybe only need one eccentric each side? Maybe one of the settings can be made without an eccentric as the inner slot only seems to have adjustment in 2 dimensions? That would save me waiting for another week to drive my car!)
Thanks in advance

When I purchased my car, it had new steel ball joints already. I had assumed all was good. However, it took me 2.5 years (and countless $$$) to figure out the popping noise I heard in my suspension was due to having the wrong eccentrics. I was having the car aligned for the 3rd time. They knew something was wrong and let me in the shop to look. That led me to investigate...it still had the aluminum eccentrics.
I was able to obtain two used eccentrics for a reasonable cost. Two could be reused.
