Default People That Don't know Their Car

I text this bloke to say "mate....your car is listed wrong. It's a 5.0L not a 4.7L."

He replies with "No....it's definitely a 4.7L"

Also let him know it's quite a desirable car, but no response. Oh well, I was just trying to help him out. hhmmmmm.

Oh Well.

It looks like it's a Euro S (from the Euro side markers) which would make it a 4.7L.

Edit - I should've looked at more than just the preview pic--the engine bay clearly shows a 32V 5.0L motor. Maybe the owner never looked in the engine bay either.

That is an 86 S3 32v ROW car. Made in October 85 means it is an 86 model like an 86.5 USA with the 87 suspension and brakes.

Yep, Rog's right, early '86, but being RoW is like a USA 86.5 as all RoW '86 got those upgrades. It'll be the lower-compression smog version of the S3 motor, being an Aussie car.

On the plus side, the seller knows how to spell "sought", so he/she is educated, just not about 928's.

$31,000!!?? Even in USD it's $24,000. Maybe the market in Au is different, but seems a little high. GLWS, though.

Aussie prices for 928's are 50% to 100% higher than New Zealand prices.

Glad I don't live there - I could never afford my S4.

Most 86 "S3"s in Aus are advertised in the 40s.... if any good, it is bit cheap!

Dave
Why do you say that, I've sold them for closer to 30 and that was over a year ago, it all depends on the "Condition" and what the buyer is looking for.
And yes, there are a lot of pigs w/ lipstick on them, and they won't do as good

Me too
All I'm saying is there is no one exact value that any car is worth, IMO too many variables.
And Dave as you know when you add a SC, they are even more fun to drive for the $ and when you find a buyer looking for that, it adds value,

Thanks,
Dave K

There is a 1995 GTS advertised on carsales.com.au for AUD$82,000 right now.

... and a 1982 928S on the same site for AUD$58,500.

At the current exchange rate that's USD$63,000 and USD$45,000 respectively.

The 82 has been for sale for ages and will not sell for $58, maybe half that.... GTS are sometimes over $100k, $82k seems like a good buy. But then again the market is all over the place and these are just advertised prices, not selling prices!

^^That is the rub. We see asking prices but few sold prices. ^^
