Depin 996 MAF sensor connector
Thanks to this post I managed to work out how to depin this connector. I used a staple. I used the standard staple but the slightly stronger, thicker staples may work better. By straightening out a simple staple into a L-shape. I managed to push this down in the four corners (see photo). You will feel it engaged with the retaining clip which is just to the side of the middle ridge (see photo). With gentle pull and wiggle the thing will pull out. This is a bit fiddly and I did buy a depin set from eBay which of course do not have the correct pin but there are two thin flat ones you can use to push down two corners and only use the staples for the other two which made it much easier. Sorry forgot to take photos.
Staples in the four corners
You can see the retaining clips on either side of the middle ridge. Try to aim the staple to the middle, you will feel a click when it engages.
