Brian and all others,

I have this problem with my '83 euro S. Particularly in the rain. I have new bilsteins and am running pretty new 275x40x17's KUHMO's (which are supposed to be pretty good in the rain) in the rear on 11" rims. If I get on the power in second gear in the wet, I get wheelspin and big batches of wheel hop or axle tramp as we used to call it. I know this is very bad for the driveline and regularly used to cause axles to break in 911' s and earlier 356 models. It concerns me that I don't seem to be able to tame it. Perhaps Dr. Bob is right, if I had an additional 100 hp then the wheels would not be bouncing around, just doing a fast meltdown

Is there something I should be adjusting to compensate for this?

Thanks,

JF

Guys, my '89 GT has ALWAYS had terrible wheel hop. 4 years now, with 3 different sets of wheels/tires both 16 and 18", old shocks/springs and new Bilsteins/Eibachs, differing air pressures, all to no avail. She will start spinning smoothly, and then suddenly start hammering away. Of course I always immediately let out of the throttle to stop the wheel hop.

The only time it spins smoothly is if I turn right (like pulling out of my local gas station) and break them loose during the turn. Then it will start spinning smoothly, and of course fishtail some, but then it seems to transition to straight line spinning without wheel hop. If I do it from a dead stop in a straight line, I get wheel hop.

Another local lister has an '89 GT and an '80 Euro. The Euro spins smoothly, but the GT has wheel hop like mine.
