Default Valvoline VR1 20W-50 sale @ O'Reilly's

For those who like their oil the old fashioned way, I was at O'Reilly's today and they have the 5 quart jugs of VR1 20W-50 on sale for $25.99. I believe sale runs thru Feb 27th.

If you order online and opt to ship it to your home andyou order more than $75 bucks worth (4 jugs) it's shipped free and if you enter the coupon BIG25 they discount 25% off.

4 jugs for 89.96 plus tax. $4.50 a qt?

Thanks, Kevin

^ Thanks for the heads up! Here is the direct link.

I just purchased 4 jugs however it came up as $29.99/each. Total for me with Seattle tax was $99.09 or $4.95/qt. Still a nice deal and about $15 cheaper than going to the store if you decide to buy in volume.

I excluded tax, so we're almost the same. Still a very good deal.

It looks like the website isn't updated to reflect the sale price shown in their Current Ad (link found on their main homepage). You should contact them, you're still over the $100 threshold for the 20% off coupon on $100 or more purchase if they honor the advertised price. $16 bucks is $16 bucks.

The website doesn’t even show vr1 20w50 without the direct link for me. I didn’t buy any online once I realized that VR1 is not to be used with catalyst.

VR1 is fine with our catalysts as they are much more stout than ones in today's cars.

Our cars were engineered to run using the high amounts of zddp found in VR1 and other high zinc oils like Brad Penn, Amsoil, etc.

The whole debacle with lower zddp levels in oils was due to the damage zinc allegedly does to catalytic converters.

In other words, any oil with the zddp levels (or higher) of 1100/1200 ppm have the same CAT damaging potential.

No they weren't. The potential for warranty claims was not as tall back then, so wasn't an actuarial issue at the time.
