the std 928 seat is all you would need, any competent trimmer will be able to recover them, I've had mine done and my dash reskin to...looks factory, wasn't that expensive in the grand scheam of things..
fitting in non standard seats verse recovering the standard ones? You may save a couple hundred bucks...but you just wiped of much more of the value from your car! They don't fit right, don't look right..but hey if you already butchered your car and fitted all these so called "updates" it won't matter..who doesn't like flashy lights and gauge pods, funky floor mats and pedals..
Personally, I go as far as to fit a period correct stereo over a newer one..like the old Alpine with ice cube's as fitted to tha Lamborghini Contach and advertised in the 80s.. I run a Personal (later to become Nardil) steering wheel ( yes the one F1 driver Senna advertised in the 80s) ..but you guys would fit a flat bottom "momo" I'm guessing? Look trendy don't they.
In time you will want them as close to original or using period specific known brand parts from that time, it is to recreate the time capsule feel.these cars are already very old.... So when you get in it you are whisked away to another time...that's the joy in a old collectible, like in a old muscle car or old Ferrari...you have nothing to prove ...each to there own I guess..

Sure i can get some pics to have a look, there just brown standard 928 euro seats..I also replaced a drivers side seat motor whilst they were out.
The cost was $1600 Australian to get the seats done. The dash was also around $1600 Australian including freight, and a specialist out of Melbourne did that.
I am having trouble reconciling these two “statements”.
Want to keep yours stock, so be it. Others want to tweak theirs, so be it. Take a holier than thou view of others, not so much please...
LOL I was thinking the same thing... you beat me too it. As a guy that works on and drives Porsche's everyday I think the 997 seats are quite amazingly comfortable. Even for a 6'5", 275 lb guy. The early 928 seats are horrible (looks and feel especially for a tall guy). The later ones are much better... but if I could find a good price on some 997 seats I would do the swap in a heartbeat, especially if the stock ones are in less than desirable condition. You can always get the seats recovered and throw them in if you decide to sell and the buyer accuses you of being a "butcher" lol.
The 997 seats I have were put in by Tony since he's 6'4". With the adjustable seat base, you can be down low. It's the height of the backrest that is the problem. At 5'10" I have to pump the base up so when I move the seat back forward I have to lower the base. I don't have a sunroof, but I can tell that could be a issue if you did. But I'm contemplating replacing them with Paul C's Pasha leather 928 seats. Something about the cost keeps me away. However with the increasing prices I may be able to justify the change.

As others pointed out already, age and condition of the foam means everything. For tall guys, nothing is better than the early full manual seats (three of my cars have them) especially the early sport seats.
The only complaint with my 87 is how uncomfortable the seats are compared to my early cars. But my comparison is skewed since my cars have the manual seats......except the 80 but those are refurbished power seats so the foam & supports are new(er).

I've thought about looking for a set of tan 997 or any newer seat for my 80, overall height is my primary concern though. That car is also a sunroof delete so he re-gained some headroom.
Photos can be deceiving, they look like they sit higher than stock seats.

I do hope you were kidding, swapping seats is hardly butchering the car unless you cut out parts to make them fit. Four bolts remove, four bolts re-install.
Butchering is cutting up the car to replace parts like the clutch master or shifter ball cup.....

Hey Tom, let’s talk. I might sell my Champagne pasha interior out of my GT and reinstall the original seats. I’m on the fence though. Exact same ones in the pic.
I had both OB 928 seats and full power GT seats in my 928 Spyder and neither were as comfortable for me as the 997 Adaptive Sport seats I now run in it. I'm 6'1" 20o lbs and the support is just perfect. The narrow back of the 928 seats always hit me between the shoulder blades, but the 997 seats with shoulder support wings are much better. I have the full power ones in my RUF 997, the semi power but full leather ones in my 928 (alcantara ones usually come from the GT cars whereas all leather ones from the Caymans and Boxsters), and find them so comfortable, made one into my office chair. On the 928 ones, I wrapped the backs in CF vinyl to match the rest of the interior theme and give them some character since they're very visible when the top is down. 12v home alarm battery supplies power for the recline function
Great to see! I’ve seen them also mounted on 993’s, sharp looking. My point is that you’ll never get the level of fit/finish of these seats for even double the price. If you want to spend $3000 on customizing your seats, then great. But with stock 997 seats selling in the 500-600 range, it’s hard to beat. I for one will be looking to put my perfect stock seats in storage, I’ll remount them on the car if I ever decide to sell.

Curious if the prices you're referencing may be per seat. I see the comfort versions sell for $800-$1,000 / pair, manual adaptive versions for $1,600 - $2,400 per pair, and about $3.500 per pair for the full power adaptive sport seat plus versions (but those I believe are harder to wire into a non-997 car).
