Camp 928 - June 14-17, 2018
Last year's Camp 928 was a lot of fun, so let's do it again! Mark your calendars: June 14-17, 2018.
You can get a good sense of it by looking through the thread for last year, https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...18-2017-a.html . It's a gathering of 928 owners located in the Northeast. Conveniently located in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York, roughly equidistant from Buffalo, Montreal, Boston and NYC. We had people from all four of those directions. It was an international event. It's a bit of a resort area in the summer, quiet in the off-season. The chosen weekend is in-between, a week before schools let out - reasonably warm and the black fly season is over.
I think the consensus is that it went pretty well, especially considering it was our first. There will be a few changes, but we'll keep to the basic structure and schedule. Many of last year's attendees have volunteered for various duties, which will help a lot.
There's no big hotel, but there is variety of housing. We hope to negotiate group rates at a few places, but you may wish to start exploring. The least expensive place is in a tent on our grounds. There will be bonfires and marshmallows. It seems this is a good event to bring a spouse and family. You could even rent a lakeside cabin for a week.
The event has a public face: our own car show on the lawn of the town hall on Main Street. It's a small town, and this is actually a big deal to the locals. We invite folks from the local PCA chapter to show their cars, too.
Note that the schedule allows for an extra day - come up Thursday and we'll have all day Friday to do car stuff, or explore the area.
I've just revised the website with housing and other information: http://camp928.com . We're not quite ready to open the formal registration process, so stay tuned.
Oh ... as you know from all my annoying posts about my new garage, Camp 928 Headquarters will be moving into a new facility.
Gosh, we had great 928 owners last year, every one. I hope you can come this year.

I will consult with She Who Must Be Obeyed. If we don't have a conflict, I think we will be in. Passed on last year because we had just made that drive not too long before the event.

I would like to make it down again this year, with the 928 rather than the 924S this time. Suzanne felt somewhat at loose ends, partly because of her limited English and because she is not a gearhead, to say the least. But... if Nancy could organise a visit to nearby art galleries and/or museums she would be interested. As I mentioned last year, Suzanne was really disappointed that we only learned that Nancy was an artist as we were leaving.

I'm glad this event is providing motivation to get our cars buttoned up after winter projects. That certainly includes mine (TT job and inevitable extra work, large pieces scattered about).
Grant: here's a photo just for Suzanne: Nancy's studio. I've told her not to clean it up so much this year. She's working on the poster for this year. We'll at least have a list of activities for non-gear-heads.
I sat through an entire town board meeting this week in order to get a resolution passed to hold the car show on the Town Hall lawn again. They're very happy about this event. BTW, as far as I can tell so far, everyone who came last year is coming this year.

Curt, just registered and booked the Pine Tree cabins again. I'll be getting in Thursday late afternoon, and can help with any set up on Friday. Looking forward to the new "club house".

Here is an added bonus. The clover leaf green shirts make perfect St. Patrick day fashion. Hoping to attend again this year. A great bunch of folks in a great location.
