Temp sensor for older 5 speeds

Temp sensor for older 5 speeds
It occurred to me after thinking about a discussion on a previous thread, that it might be interesting to put a temperature sensor into the manual transmission on pre-Borg models.
The gist of the thread was that the synchros don't work well (esp 2nd gear) until the transmission warms up.
That raises two questions:
1) How warm is "warmed up
2) How can I tell when it has warmed up
You could probably fit a sensor into a modified fill plug and mount a gauge by the clock. The sensor wires could follow the same path as the speedometer sender wires. That way you would know when it is alright to relax a bit when shifting into second, rather than doing it by trial and error.
Anyone tried this before?

Marc just use synthetic gear lube and it will "act warm" all the time . In the race cars at 450-500 hp temps can get pretty high , the GTS has in internal pump and front cooler .

I suspect that would have worked 50,000 miles ago, but I am likely just trying to prolong the life of the sychros for another year or so. It is currently full of Swepco. Is there some miracle synthetic oil (some flavor of Redline?) that will work better?
