Default Identify this cap/cover part for me? Did I damage anything?

US '78 5-speed. Is this from my clutch or torque tube? I had my clutch done and rebuilt torque tube put in last summer. Since then I have driven the car once in a heavy rain. I fear that this rubber cap not being in may have allowed water to get where it shouldn't. might I have damaged something? ...on a side note Pretty sure the lifesaver isn't factory original, but seems to be in "mint" condition

Rubber plug for inspection/pinch bolt hole in the nose of the transxle. Scoot back under there and tuck it back in its hole, unless it’s so old and soft that it won’t stay, in which case order a new one.

Thanks, I will. It seems to be in fine condition actually so I will reuse it. Might it not being in place have allowed water to get where it shouldn't and damage anything? I'd hate to have put in all my new clutch parts only to have them compromised by water ingress
