I know there's been alot of talk about "bad" green wires. This has promped tme to look into learning exactly how it is supposed to be wired. I"ll borrow this photo from Mitch J. and ask:
Which line is for the pulsed signal and which is for the shield? (on the "good wire" on the right) - Ruf

Hey Rufus,
I changed my green wire about two weeks ago and the only wrong with it was that the connector to the distributor was upside down and the plate that holds it in place would not fit. All I did was flipped the wired (keep it in the same slot) and plug it back in. I

Thanks T, but I'm looking for some way to tell whcih line is supposed to carry the signal and which is supposed to carry the shield (braided) wire.
From what I can tell, there are three ways to have this wire messed up and I'd like to be able to check them in the future, or even make my own in an emergency..
Jim B. @ 928 Intl, you have any input? -Ruf

looking at the old wire in the photo the large connector the far right pin is the shielding contact . Note that the connector is being held with the locating indexing pin at the top ...the new connector is held index pin down . This parts produced as I recall 02-11-02 and 02-12-02 the wires are switched in this large molded plug . The car will run but poorly since the hall signal is jumping from wire to sheathing by induction .

Jim, Thank You Thank You! I knew you would have the answer. Knowing this as the Achilles Heel that it is, it's good to know exactly how it should be. - Ruf
