Norcal 928'ers, yer all invited!
Norcal928, Come Celebrate Katies Great Porsche Journey Feb 2nd, In Sacto!
Graduation is at UTI:
4100 Duckhorn Drive
Sacramento, 95834
Please bring the 928 world to our next 928 Master Mechanic's Graduation.
This is RSVP please. UTI needs to know seats to place for this. There is a nice Starbucks across the street to gather at starting at 11 for coffee, chat, snacks..impromptu car show, and cruise over to UTI 2 blocks away at 12 for the ceremony.
We will reserve seating at a nearby nice place to eat afterwords.
She's...and interesting kid, in a good way. She'll make a better car wrench than most of us think we are..please come support and send her off to the Mother Ship!
Katie graduates is on Feb 2nd (Ya, a Friday, how odd) in Sacramento from UTI. She has completed the first basic year of training plus a 13-week additional advanced specialist course called ford FACT..its a grueling 13wks of body control and advanced ECU diagnosis. She has achieved multiple Student Of Class in this course alone.
PAST THIS..she has been _invited_ (You can't apply and pay) by Porsche North America to attend their 26wk course in Atlanta, where they pay for housing -and- the tuition, plus a multi-year contract guaranteeing her a job at a dealer..anywhere she wants. This alone gives her a 10-year jump on the experience and certification track that Porsche expects of their employees.
Her goals are broader than that, who knows what PCNA might ask of her in that six month period. The goal is to work in a Porsche Classics restoration facility.

Congratulations to Katie (and to you also.) Wish I lived closer so I could attend. I love hearing about young people who have discovered their passion and are pursuing it, particularly in Skilled Trades. We need so many people in these fields it isn't funny. I work in the industrial maintenance and reliability field and the shortage of qualified people is getting desperate. There is only one person for every five jobs available. Tell your daughter not to be surprised in 10 years if Porsche ask her to be an instructor or to move into a leadership role. Who knows, she may find passion in the motorsports side and be part of the factory racing effort.

p.s. There is a Porsche dealership in Honolulu. Just sayin....

I wish I could attend but I'm a bit far away and work doesn't give me good days off.
Congrats to you for being so supportive and to Katie for pursuing her passion. Can't wait to hear updates on her experiences in Georgia.
