Default MAF sensor rebuild

Currently I'm doing an intake refresh on my 88 s4. I sent the MAF sensor off to Precision Injection Labs for testing/rebuild. The total cost with shipping came to $500 CDN. I received the MAF today and found the downstream wire mesh screen damaged, half of it was ripped out. When I sent it out for rebuild both screens were in perfect condition. I phoned Precision Injection Labs and was told the screen wasn't necessary but for an additional cost they could send me a new one. I'm not one to complain but when I spend $500 and receive the part back damaged and am told they want me to pay for the damage it kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Very unfortunate.

Not only the screen, but the price sounds pretty damn high too. Who recommended them?

The cost of the rebuild was $350 US and the shipping on top of that. Unfortunately the CDN dollar is low. When looking for a shop to rebuild the MAF I did a google search and found previous posts on this site recommending them. $350 US seems to be the standard price these days.

I'll call Roger from 928rus to get another screen, I've dealt with him before and that guy is a stand up guy. I'd prefer to give him my $

Well...it all worked out for the best. I spoke with Precision Labs again and they will send out a new screen free of charge. It's nice to know this company stands by their work. It's given me some piece of mind.

I wonder what has changed a few years ago, before they were so well known it was about half that price iirc. OTOH I told them to raise their prices. After I had them do a few mafs for myself.

When I was researching where to send the MAF too I noticed the price has doubled in the last few years. I figured it costs what it costs and it's good for the life of the car. I'm just happy the issue has been resolved.

We keep rebuilt MAF's in stock for $315 each.
Sending you a new MAF screen as Kevin called me to do so - we stock the screens.

Thank you,

Rebuilt MAF is $375 plus a $400 core charge. Once we receive your core with screens in good condition we refund the core charge.
